🧬 A Brief History
The 32264 was originally installed in broadcast and large-format 80-series desks. Built around a diode-bridge topology — the same principle as the revered 33609 — this unit offered separate compressor and limiter sections, each with their own threshold, release, and ratio parameters.

Its unique circuit imparts a signature compression character that is fast, clear, and slightly rounded at the edges. Unlike opto or VCA designs, the diode-bridge imparts a distinct saturation curve when pushed — and when used lightly, adds the kind of thick cohesion that mixes crave.
