Released in 1972, the TEAC A-3340S brought multitrack recording to project studios and home users for the first time. With its innovative Simul-Sync® feature, musicians could overdub on multiple tracks without latency—a first for consumer tape decks. Known for its warm sound, punchy midrange, and iconic build quality, the 3340S quickly became a favourite of indie artists, experimental producers, and even broadcast engineers. It helped shape the sound of demo tapes for bands like the Doobie Brothers, and became a studio staple for forward-thinking artists like Brian Eno.
