🧬 A Brief History
Originally crafted in the early 1970s, the 2264 was designed as a compact, transistor-based compressor/limiter intended for broadcast and studio use. Built to match the sonic signature of its larger cousins (like the 2254), the 2264 was known for its faster attack times, tighter compression, and flexible limit mode.
The version profiled here is inspired by rare vintage 2264 modules, renowned for hand-built analog gear with a fanatical dedication to circuit accuracy. Whether used on vocals, drums, or full mixes, the 2264 became a studio favourite thanks to its thick midrange, extended low end, and transformer-driven mojo.
