A Rare Piece of Recording History Reborn
The AnalogX Vintage NV 1093 Preamp Emulations capture one of the most elusive and unique Class A preamp circuits ever installed in early EMI commissioned consoles. These 1093 modules pre date the well known seventies designs and offer a tone that is vintage at its core yet distinctly different from the usual seventies flavour that engineers expect. Smooth open and elegant the 1093 delivers depth without heavy saturation and transformer weight without the thick colour of later era preamps.

🧬 A Brief History
The 1093 preamp was created for a generation of EMI designed studio consoles built during a period of close collaboration with Rupert Neve. These modules formed part of the front end for world class recording facilities and were used on early multitrack pop sessions orchestral recordings and film scoring dates.
Unlike the later seventies modules the NV 1093 was engineered with a different philosophy. Rather than choosing transformers for colour EMI and the design team selected transformer sets for low distortion and clarity. Geoff Tanner explained it simply and perfectly:
“The EMI NV units were unique in that the transformers were selected for low distortion and a label stuck on the transformer stating that figure.”
This design choice created a tone that is unmistakably vintage but cleaner wider and more open than the thick heavy character that later units became famous for. The NV 1093 delivers smooth transient detail gentle transformer depth and a natural musical presence that sits beautifully in modern mixes. Very few of these modules still exist which makes this Genesis pack a rare opportunity to experience an important part of British recording history.
