The AnalogX MCI-JH16 Tape Emulations bring the depth, warmth, and tonal complexity of a classic 2-inch 16-track tape machine into your DAW. these 16 Tracks of True Tape have now been upgraded to our High Quality Modelling Tier, delivering stunning analog tone with greater harmonic resolution, richer saturation behaviour, and a more fluid response.
This pack gives you all 16 tracks at 15 ips β for total flexibility and realism.
The MCI JH16 was one of the first 16-track 2-inch multitrack recorders, widely adopted during the golden era of analog studio recording. Known for its transformer-based circuitry and rugged build, the JH16 delivered a warm, punchy tone with subtle tape compression that helped define countless records throughout the '70s and early '80s.
This emulation captures its full multitrack behaviour β including tone variation, and near analog glue β so you can mix with that same vintage sound that engineers once tracked through.
*IMPORTANT - real vintage tapes have high noise floors compared to digital medium. The Emulations are designed to be used with the Red Drive at Unity, if you reduce the red drive to negative values you will bring more of the natural noise floor of the machine into play, if this is not what you want keep red drive at unity or above.
Weβve always said we donβt pretend to be analog β but our users keep telling us otherwise. Time and time again, producers say our emulations do sound like the real thing. Some even tell us to stop being so modest and just own it. So, alrightβ¦ you got it.
Welcome to the world of truly analog-sounding emulations β inside the box.
