A Classic Mastering Era Compressor Reborn
The AnalogX SHEP Dual Compressor Emulations bring the sound of an ultra rare hand built dual channel vintage British compressor into the Genesis ecosystem. This unit is part of the early lineage that inspired what later became the famous 33609 style family of compressors delivering fast punch smooth glue and unmistakable vintage authority. Painstakingly captured across both channels the SHEP Dual Compressor delivers the exact asymmetric behaviour transformer tone and program dependent action that made these early modules so special.
Alongside the compressor captures this pack also includes a complete suite of five stage line tone models from both sides of the unit giving you instant vintage weight and colour without additional compression. This is a first for ITB mixing and delivers real world console style line mojo directly inside Genesis including on the Genesis Pro GPU platform which huge instance counts!

🧬 A Brief History
The SHEP Dual Compressor is based on a rare hand built mastering grade design created during the era that shaped the early British discrete VCA compressor sound. These units were built as premium replacements and upgrades for the early compressor modules found in classic modular consoles. Many engineers regard this design as a bridge between the earliest broadcast limiters and the later studio favourites that defined seventies and eighties rock and pop production.
Its circuitry echoes the early topology that later informed the famous 33609 type compressors. Fast clean gain reduction smooth recovery curves and transformer balanced inputs contributed to a tone that was controlled yet musical. Unlike later revisions that introduced more limiting options this early style is prized for its natural glue tight punch and ability to bring cohesion to drums vocals guitars and full mix buses without sounding aggressive.
SHEP built these units with extreme attention to component quality including stepped controls hand selected transformers and precision matched paths for stereo work. This is why engineers consider them mastering grade and why the original hardware is nearly impossible to find. Now captured in Genesis with exact channel matching you can experience the behaviour of both sides of this rare compressor including their subtle variations in symmetry and tone.
