🧬 A Brief History
The original 110 module was designed by Rupert Neve for the custom AIR Studios console created for Sir George Martin. The aim was to build a preamp that delivered clean gain with musical definition while preserving transient detail. Its Lundahl transformer and headroom design gave engineers a sound that felt open, smooth and natural even at higher gain settings.
The ISA 110 went on to become a studio favourite for vocals, acoustic instruments, drums and orchestral work. Its balance of clarity, presence and transformer warmth made it a modern classic and a go to choice for producers who wanted definition without hardness. The character became known for its smooth top end, solid low mid response and effortless musicality.
